Alkagesta has secured access to the Argus Open Markets window for European Biodiesel, Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), and Used Cooking Oil (UCO), according to the source publication. This development signifies the company's growing involvement in price assessment processes within sustainable fuels markets.
Argus Media, an independent provider of price assessments and market intelligence, operates globally. Its benchmarks are widely utilized by producers, traders, and end-users across European biofuels markets. Participation in this window allows companies to submit bids, offers, and transactions for consideration in Argus's price assessment process.
The source material indicates that Alkagesta's participation reflects the scale of its biofuels trading operations, which commenced in 2025. These operations now encompass UCO origination, trading of biodiesel and HVO, ISCC-certified sustainable aviation fuel, and EU Emissions Trading System allowances.
Anthony Guida, Biofuels Trading Desk Lead at Alkagesta, stated that becoming an active participant in the Argus window for biofuels would boost market liquidity. He also noted that it would enhance the accuracy of Argus price assessments, thereby driving market transparency and accelerating the adoption of biofuels.
This move follows Alkagesta's earlier approval to participate in the Platts Market on Close assessment process for EMEA naphtha physical. These developments collectively establish the company's presence in commodity price assessment processes for both petroleum and sustainable fuels markets.
