Alkagesta has secured ISCC CORSIA certification, allowing it to trade and supply CORSIA-eligible Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). This certification ensures that the company's SAF meets international aviation sustainability requirements and supports airlines in fulfilling their emissions compliance obligations, Malta Today reported.
The certification provides a recognised framework for SAF to meet defined lifecycle greenhouse-gas reduction criteria under International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) standards. Alkagesta is now positioned to offer verified SAF supply to airline counterparties, aligning with regulatory obligations as the global aviation sector advances its emissions monitoring and compliance efforts.
Anthony Guida, Biofuels Trader and Business Developer at Alkagesta, stated that achieving ISCC CORSIA certification reflects the company's ongoing development in biofuels and its focus on compliant market participation. He added that the certification establishes a clear chain of custody and traceability throughout the supply process, assisting counterparties in meeting both international and regional SAF requirements.
Malta Today noted that this certification contributes to a more harmonised compliance environment, supporting transparency and consistency across international SAF markets. This is particularly relevant given European regulatory initiatives like ReFuelEU Aviation, which introduces mandatory SAF blending thresholds, and the gradual phase-out of free allowances under the EU Emissions Trading System.
