Alkagesta, a commodity trading house, has announced it received ISCC CORSIA certification. This certification enables the company to trade and supply sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) that is eligible under the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).
The certification, obtained through an ICAO-approved sustainability scheme, positions Alkagesta to assist airline partners with verified SAF supplies that comply with regulatory requirements. An Alkagesta biofuels trader and business developer stated that this achievement demonstrates the company's ongoing development in biofuels and its commitment to compliant market participation.
The certification establishes a clear chain of custody and traceability throughout the supply process. This supports counterparties in fulfilling both international and regional SAF mandates, according to Alkagesta.
The source publication notes that European regulations, such as ReFuelEU Aviation, are introducing mandatory SAF blending thresholds. Additionally, the gradual removal of free allowances under the EU Emissions Trading System is increasing the economic importance of SAF adoption.
Against this regulatory background, CORSIA certification helps to create a more consistent compliance environment. It also promotes transparency and uniformity across international SAF markets, the source publication reported.
