Alkagesta is solidifying its position in the European biofuels market, operating across the entire value chain, according to Biofuels News. The company works with early-stage waste and feedstock collectors through to end-users of refined bioproducts, including FAME, HVO, and other advanced fuels. Its products are sourced and sold across multiple jurisdictions.
The company's biofuels desk aims to integrate smaller volume and niche producers into the mainstream market. It provides structure, compliance frameworks, and operational discipline, which are essential for navigating the complexities of the sector, including shifting regulations and diverse counterparties.
By standardising processes and implementing rigorous controls, Alkagesta facilitates access for emerging suppliers to European biodiesel refiners, HVO/SAF producers, aggregators, and blenders. This approach helps these suppliers achieve competitive value for their products without compromising risk management.
Alkagesta's operations encompass a wide range of scales, from multi-thousand-tonne seagoing cargoes to single-truck deliveries. The company employs a flexible business model designed to protect both buyers and sellers, adapting to requirements for high standardisation or bespoke management.
Anthony Guida, an Alkagesta biofuels trader and business developer, stated that operating in a controlled environment benefits all parties. He added that sharing trading and operational expertise with feedstock suppliers promotes best practice and improves efficiency throughout the value chain.
The company, which is described as one of Europe’s largest non-refinery traders, is committed to supporting local players. Alkagesta continues to seek opportunities with both established and emerging partners as the sector evolves and new stakeholders enter the market, supporting Europe's decarbonisation agenda.
