Global container shipping line reliability saw its sharpest monthly decrease in more than five years in July, according to The Loadstar. This decline was attributed to worsening congestion at major ports across Asia, which significantly impacted on-time performance.
Sea-Intelligence reported that global schedule reliability decreased by 6.1 percentage points month-on-month, reaching 56.4% in July. This represents the steepest single-month drop recorded since January 2021, as stated by the analyst.
The analyst further noted that there have only been eight instances in the past 14 years where global reliability experienced such a significant decline. This highlights the unusual severity of the recent drop in performance for container shipping lines.
